Today Is Your Day

Today Is Your Day.

I was inspired by a recent blog post from Richard Branson "Today You Are You", where he writes about the pearls of wisdom found in Dr Seuss books.

My favourite Dr Seuss poem is "Oh The Places You'll Go", it was read at my wedding by a great friend. It has so much meaning, guidance, and inspiration for us all. It reassures me that nothing is guaranteed and that it is not simple for the "mind-maker-upper" to make the right choices. Yet he reminds me that make decisions we must.

Favourite lines from the poem:

You have brains in your head

You have feet in your shoes

You can steer yourself

any direction you choose.

Today is your day!

Your mountain is waiting.

So...get on your way!

Today Is Your Day. Your Mountain Is Waiting.

What do these words mean to you?

Never mind New Years Resolutions, what mountains are you going to climb this year? Are you going to write that book, become an Ironman, change careers, move abroad, cycle round the world, start writing a blog or start a family...?

Whatever it is, start climbing your mountain, it is waiting for you.

It was 1 year ago on the 2nd Jan 2013, that I launched Challenge Sophie and published my first blog post: "Day 1 - Liberated"

It's been an incredible year. I've learnt so much. Met so many wonderful people.

In between climbing mountains, cycling across countries and becoming an Ironman, there are many highs and lows, twists and turns that come with life. The challenges that anyone can relate to, the kind we encounter as we strive to live our dreams and achieve our goals. In my pursuit to live the dream, I share my experiences with you through my blog. I'm climbing my mountain and have a long way to go. Thank you for reading, commenting and sharing.

Today I remind myself that in order to continue to grow, I must chose liberty over security, I must let go to really be free.

It's a great day to read my first blog post and reflect on how I felt a year ago. Today I feel less scared of not knowing where I'm going or how I'll get there, I know it will all work out.

I know that it is only by letting go of everything I deem to be important to me, that I'll truly understand what actually is.
